Longmynd Travel Ltd is a family owned business which was first established in 1973. During the last 30 years the company has experienced a wealth of success and has expanded to keep up with the growing demands of its clients.

Husband and wife team George and Joan Evans decided to take on a new business venture and start a company in which the only the whole family could be involved. The Company began when an opportunity arose to secure a school contract. The Evans' decided to go ahead with the venture and acquired their first bus from their local county council - a Bedford which until recently they still owned.

Longmynd Travel originally worked from one office in Snailbeach, from there they were able to establish themselves as a reliable and reputable coach operator and build themselves a loyal client base, many have returned again and again. After the initial success, Longmynd Travel moved to larger premises at Pontesbury and continued to build the company and expand the fleet.

In 2000 Mark and Val joined the business and became partners and started to take over the general day to day running of the business.

In September 2003 Longmynd Travel Ltd relocated to the old council depot at Lea Cross with staff and coaches working from the new base.

Mark started working for Longmynd in 1991 as a tour driver.

Mark continues to drive now on a regular basis as and when needed although his day to day role is in operations and maintenance of the fleet overseeing all work carried out in the garage.

Val Sheppard-Evans

Company Secretary

Role within the Company: Responsibility for day to day running of the business and decision making.

Responsible for finance and accounts.

Qualifications/Experience: Coach Licence for over 15 years.

Role within Company: Admin, wages and general assistant to Val.

Qualifications/Experience: Clait level 1 & 2 in Computer Studies, EDL in Computing, Dreamweaver Web Design Proficient Level and Current First Aid Certificate.
